Last updated: June 20, 2026. The short version: we collect what we need to run your account and your flows, we never sell your data, and you can export or delete it whenever you want.

Who we are

Ask Flik (“Ask Flik,” “we,” “us”) is a product of Futur Labs, based in Surrey, British Columbia, Canada. We provide a tool for recording branching video conversations and embedding them on websites to collect replies. This policy explains what data we handle, why, and the choices you have. Questions: hey@askflik.com.

Two kinds of people in this policy

Because of what Ask Flik does, two different groups are involved, and we treat their data differently:

  • Account holders — people who sign up, build flows, and embed them. For your account data, Ask Flik is the data controller.
  • Respondents — people who watch a flow and reply with video, audio, or text on a site that embeds Ask Flik. For respondent replies, Ask Flik acts as a data processor on behalf of the account holder who created the flow. That account holder is the controller and is responsible for telling respondents how their replies will be used and for having a lawful basis to collect them.

What we collect

From account holders

  • Account info: name, email, and authentication details when you sign up or log in.
  • Workspace content: the flows, prompts, videos, branching logic, and settings you create.
  • Billing info: if you upgrade, our payment processor (Stripe) handles your card. We store a customer ID, plan, and billing status — never full card numbers.
  • Usage & device data: log data, IP address, browser type, and product analytics about how you use the app.

From respondents

  • Replies: the video, audio, or text a respondent records or types in answer to a flow, plus which branches they took.
  • Camera & microphone:recording only happens after a respondent grants their browser’s camera/microphone permission and chooses to record. Nothing is captured in the background.
  • Basic technical data: IP address and device/browser info needed to deliver and play back the flow.

How we use data

  • To provide, maintain, and secure the service and your account.
  • To process and store the replies your flows collect, and to show them to you.
  • To process payments and manage subscriptions.
  • To send service email (receipts, security notices, important updates).
  • To understand and improve the product through aggregate analytics.

We do not sell your data, and we do not use respondent video or audio to train AI models.

Service providers we share with

We use a small number of trusted subprocessors to run Ask Flik. They only receive what they need to do their job:

  • Convex — application database and backend.
  • Mux — video upload, encoding, storage, and streaming.
  • Stripe — payment processing and subscription billing.
  • Resend — transactional email delivery.
  • Vercel — application hosting and content delivery.
  • Google Analytics — privacy-conscious product and traffic analytics.

We may also disclose data if required by law, to protect our rights or users’ safety, or in connection with a merger or acquisition (we’ll notify you first where we can).

Cookies & tracking

We use essential cookies to keep you logged in and a small number of analytics cookies to understand usage. You can control cookies in your browser settings. See our cookie policy for details.

Data retention

We keep account data for as long as your account is active. Flow content and replies are kept until you delete them or close your account. After account closure we delete or anonymize your data within a reasonable period, except where we must retain limited records (for example, billing records) to meet legal obligations.

Your rights

Depending on where you live (including under Canada’s PIPEDA, the EU/UK GDPR, and the California CCPA/CPRA), you may have the right to access, correct, export, or delete your personal data, and to object to or restrict certain processing. To exercise any of these, email hey@askflik.com, and we’ll respond within the timeframe the law requires. If you are a respondent and want a reply removed, contact the business whose flow you replied to (the controller); we’ll help them honor your request.

International transfers

We’re based in Canada and our providers may process data in Canada, the United States, and other countries. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards (such as standard contractual clauses) for cross-border transfers.

Security

We protect data with encryption in transit, access controls, and reputable infrastructure providers. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to keep your data safe and to notify you promptly if something goes wrong.

Children

Ask Flik is not directed to children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect their personal data.

Changes

We’ll update this policy as the product evolves and revise the “last updated” date above. Material changes will be communicated through the app or by email.
